Mower's Saturday Sunday fleamarket celebrates their 40th anniversary
What an amazing day! Today we celebrate our 40th year in business. We are grateful to Walter and Pricilla Mower who purchased the property in 1907. Also, for John D Mower and Esther Mower who continued to work the land and instilled in their offspring a love for the property on Maple lane. We are also grateful for the hundreds of vendors who have supported us over these 40 years. Lastly, we are grateful for all the customers who have become fans of stopping at the flea when they come to Woodstock. God bless you all! See you at the market!

Celebrating 40 years in the fleamarket business on the corner of Deanies Alley and Maple Lane in Woodstock NY.
When Walter and Pricilla Short Mower purchased the old creamery lot in 1908, they were hoping to have a larger home for their growing family, as well as a plot of land to be able to grow produce for their thriving fruit and vegetable business. Their plan was a success, and their son John and his wife Esther took over the farm lot and home when their children were small and continued the fresh fruit and vegetable delivery business from the Maple Lane location until John’s untimely death in 1926. One hundred and nine years later, their great grandson John, his wife Janine and their family are getting ready to celebrate 40 years of flea marketing on the Maple Lane property. The flea market was started in 1977 after a local antique and collectible promoter closed up the outdoor market he was running in Woodstock. Vendors, left stranded with nowhere to set up and sell, approached John and suggested that the vacant lot on Maple Lane would be a perfect location to continue a weekly flea market. The rest, as they say, is history.
Each week, May thru October, the Mower family plays host to up to 50 vendors who travel from the tri state region to set up and sell a wide variety of items. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting to stroll around and explore the vendor booths set up on the old farm lot. The Mower family is honored to have their market listed as one of the top 10 flea market s in the USA by Fodor’s travel guide. They strive to bring in new vendors on a regular basis. Last day of the 2016 season
We give a big enthusiastic shout out to the dozen or so vendors who braved the elements this weekend at the flea market. Mother nature managed to provide us with clouds, sun, sprinkles of rain and gusty wind that accompanied frozen little snow flakes. In the past 39 years, its a rare occasion that we stay open to Thanksgiving weekend. However, if vendors want to sell, we do our best to provide these small business entrepreneurs the platform to do so. 2016 has been a great year. We are grateful for our vendors. We are grateful for all the visitors to Woodstock NY who are fans of Mower's Saturday Sunday flea market. Next year is a big year for us. We will start the celebration of 40 years in business on Saturday May 20th 2017. We can be reached at 845-679-6744. woodstockfleamarket@hvc.rr.com or follow us on Facebook under the title Mower's Saturday Flea Market. Blessings to all and see you in the spring!
